I work with counselees who face various struggles. My philosophy of care is guided by the Christian worldview that Scripture speaks to all of life's issues, and can therefore be applied to these problems. ​ I counsel individuals and couples regularly on issues related to marriage and family, anger, depression, loneliness, anxiety, shame, addictions, body image, cultural identity, relationships, and more.

No. I work with people who also subscribe to other religions, philosophies, and worldviews. With all of my counselees, we define the counseling goals together.

Each counseling session is 50 minutes in length at $175 per session. See Rates page.

The duration of your counseling and the frequency of your sessions will depend on the nature of your concerns and your counseling needs. However, if you prefer to work with a fixed number of sessions, you can let me know upfront or at any point of our counseling duration.

As first point of help, I encourage individuals to inquire about any financial help with their church, if they attend or belong to a church community. Often, churches are committed to helping those in need and have set aside a budet to help cover the cost in areas such as counseling needs. Occasionally, some are fortunate enough to have family members or friends who are willing to support by subsidizing or covering their counseling costs. If you have someone willing to support you in this way, you can direct them to the Gifts page. In cases where other means of practical help aren't possible, you may inquire about a reduced rates application. JOY Counseling LLC reviews your application and determines the outcome based on multiple factors, including availability and your income level. You can inquire directly with me.

I counsel on weekday mornings and evenings, including weekends. My counseling availability varies depending on my counseling load at the time. It would be best to inquire, and we can figure out the best day/time from there.

Phone and video-conferencing are always an option. I recommend Zoom as it reliably delivers a consistent and high-quality experience, even in low-bandwidth environments around the globe. Zoom is also HIPAA compliant.
